La Sammana

The design challenge proposed to MPM Studio included a full-scale renovation and conversion of an existing hotel in Brigantine, New Jersey into La Sammana Resort, an up-scale time share property. The 5-story structure located a block from the beach started with 62 gutted rooms, which were redesigned into studios and two- and three-bedroom suites. A luxury contemporary resort tone is set with the use of tasteful light woods, granite countertops, plasma screens and stainless steel appliances.

A feeling of understated elegance and luxury welcomes guests as they enter the La Sammana lobby. Ambiance is set with the use of natural materials such as limestone and subtle lighting. The coffered ceiling emits a gentle blue glow from the cathode lighting to enhance the resort mood as the gentle sound of a cascading waterfall is heard trickling behind the front desk. Minimalism is infused into a tropical feeling by incorporating textured glass, free flowing forms, and sheer diaphanous curtains throughout the public spaces.
